Uniform
School Uniform
Our uniform policy reflects our values and reinforces our school's culture of high expectations. All our pupils are expected to dress according to our uniform policy. Our uniform is important to us and is a way in which we identify ourselves as a school community, promoting a strong cohesive identity, which supports high standards and expectations in all areas of school life. Our uniform also promotes harmony between different groups represented in the school and enhances security.
We ask parents and carers to support all the decisions made by school staff, regarding whether clothing is appropriate or inappropriate for school.
All children have equal access to wearing school uniform, regardless of their culture, race, religion, gender, disability or ability. We ensure that the set uniform is affordable and most items are available from local stores and supermarkets. We do not expect parents to buy uniform with a logo. However, our sweatshirts, fleeces, PE T-shirts, book bags and gym bags which have the logo embroidered or screen printed are available from our on-line supplier at www.kentschooluniform.com
Jewellery and Accessories
Valuables: | pupils may wear a watch, but not a smart watch (these must be handed to the class teacher with the class mobile phones and not worn during the day at school). No responsibility can be taken by the school for damage or loss incurred for valuables bought on site. |
Jewellery | jewellery is not appropriate for school wear. Should parents insist that earrings be worn, then must only be studs. Earrings should be removed on a PE day and if they cannot be removed will be taped for the PE lesson. Children should not wear necklaces, bracelets or rings in school on any occasion. |
Nail Varnish | nail varnish or false nails are not allowed for school. |
Make-up | make-up should not be worn to school. |
Hair | long hair must be tied back and hairstyles should be appropriate for school. No dramatic haircuts, hairstyles or hair colours. |
Footwear |
No high heels, open toe or sling-back shoes or sandals. |
Tatoos | tatoos whether fake or real are not allowed. The only exception to this is if there is a religious significance and this should be discussed with the Headteacher prior to the tatoo being applied. |
Religion and our School Uniform
We recognise that our children are from different religious backgrounds and some elements of our school uniform may need to be amended to accommodate some beliefs. These amendments can only be made in a parent and headteacher meeting.
PE Uniform
Children need to wear their PE kits to school on a PE day
Here are the PE days for each class.....
Reception - Wednesday
Year 1 - Monday and Friday
Year 2 - Wednesday and Thursday
Year 3 - Monday and Thursday
Year 4 - Monday and Thursday
Year 5 - Tuesday and Friday
Year 6 - Tuesday and Friday
Wearing PE kits to school means longer PE lessons and less lost kit.
Thank you.
