Class 5 - Kingfisher Class

Welcome to Keen Kingfishers Class!

In Year 5, we expand our learning across a variety of subjects, building key skills and knowledge.

In history, we explore the Tudors and Stuarts, understanding their impact on Britain, and delve into the fascinating world of the Ancient Greeks.

Geography takes us on a journey through the study of rivers, exploring their features and importance. In English, we immerse ourselves in myths and legends, analysing their themes and crafting our own imaginative stories.

Mathematics challenges us with a strong focus on the four operations, while also introducing the foundations of algebra. Art allows us to study the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, experimenting with his bold style and refining our drawing techniques. Music is composition-focused, where we learn to create our own pieces while playing instruments like the ukulele and glockenspiel.

Computing introduces us to physical coding, helping us develop hands-on programming skills. In DT, we construct bridges with wood and design our own Greek-inspired menus which we share with our families and combine creativity with practical problem-solving. Through these subjects, we develop critical thinking, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the world around us.
