Optional KS 1 National Curriculum Assessments

The Key Stage 1 National Curriculum Assessments are designed to help us understand your child's progress in key subjects, including English and mathematics. While they are no longer statutory, we believe that they provide valuable insights into your child's learning and development. The assessments will include tasks and tests in:

  • English Reading
  • English Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling
  • Mathematics

The assessments are conducted in a supportive and familiar classroom environment and are designed to be part of the usual teaching and learning process. There is no need for your child to prepare in any special way, and we aim to ensure that they find the experience engaging and stress-free.

The results from the assessments will be used internally to help inform our teaching strategies and provide additional support where needed. We may include the results as part of your child’s annual report, which will help you understand their progress and achievements throughout the year.

We encourage you to support your child by fostering a positive attitude towards learning and ensuring they have a calm and supportive environment at home.

Please navigate to the leaflet produced by The Standards and Testing Agency below that will provide you with more information and answer any queries that you may have. If you have any further questions, please speak to Mrs Redman, the class teacher, or alternatively contact the school office, where we will be happy to assist you.
